Mechanical Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production machinery and equipment.

• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs to minimize machine downtime.

• Install, dismantle, align, and assemble mechanical components and equipment.

• Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings, couplings, belts, chains, rollers, and other mechanical systems.

• Replace worn or damaged machine parts and ensure proper functioning after repairs.

• Perform lubrication and routine inspection of machines as per the maintenance schedule.

• Assist in machine installation, commissioning, and modification activities.

• Read and understand mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and equipment manuals.

• Ensure proper use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.

• Maintain maintenance records, job cards, and equipment history.

• Coordinate with production teams to reduce machine downtime.

• Follow 5S practices and maintain cleanliness in the maintenance workshop.

• Comply with all company safety policies and use PPE during maintenance activities.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Understanding of bearings, shafts, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• Ability to use measuring instruments such as Vernier caliper, micrometer, dial gauge, and feeler gauge.

• Basic welding and fabrication knowledge is an added advantage.

• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings.

• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in preventive maintenance planning.

• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.

• Familiarity with industrial machinery used in manufacturing plants.

• Basic knowledge of TPM, 5S, and Kaizen practices.

• Exposure to SAP, CMMS, or maintenance documentation is an added advantage.

Qualification

• ITI in Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Mechanical Maintenance, or related trade
  OR

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• It is a Full Time Technician job for candidates with 1 - 4 years of experience.
