Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable IT Maintenance Technician to oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT infrastructure within our printing office environment. The technician will be responsible for ensuring all IT systems, equipment, and networks are functioning smoothly, contributing to efficient printing operations. This role is ideal for someone with a solid technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience in IT systems and hardware.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Infrastructure Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance, updates, and upgrades of servers, computers, printers, and related devices.
Ensure continuous operation of the office's printing equipment (digital and offset presses, copiers, etc.) and resolve any IT-related issues affecting their performance.
Monitor and maintain network equipment (routers, switches, wireless access points) and server infrastructure.
Technical Support:
Provide on-site technical support to employees by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
Respond to IT support tickets in a timely manner and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any technology-related problems affecting the print production process.
Hardware and Software Setup:
Install and configure computers, printers, and other peripherals in the office.
Assist with the setup and configuration of specialized printing software and systems used in production.
Ensure software licensing and updates are current.
Network and Connectivity:
Ensure seamless connectivity for printers and workstations within the local network.
Monitor network performance, address connectivity issues, and perform routine checks to maintain network integrity.
Troubleshoot and resolve network outages and slowdowns.
Security and Data Backup:
Ensure that all devices are secured and updated with the latest patches and antivirus software.
Assist in managing data backup systems to ensure the security of business-critical files.
Monitor security alerts and take appropriate action to mitigate any potential risks or threats to the IT infrastructure.
Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct regular checks and maintenance of IT systems to prevent future problems and reduce downtime.
Document and log all maintenance and repair activities.
Suggest improvements or upgrades to existing systems to improve efficiency.
Collaboration with External Vendors:
Work with external IT vendors or service providers for hardware repairs, software licenses, or system upgrades.
Coordinate with printing equipment manufacturers for specific IT-related issues and troubleshooting.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of IT equipment, software, and maintenance schedules.
Generate reports on system health, IT inventory, and service performance.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
2+ years of IT support experience, ideally in a manufacturing, production, or office environment.
Experience with network management, hardware troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure support.
Familiarity with printing technologies (digital and offset presses, copiers, etc.) is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of computer hardware and peripherals, including printers and copiers.
Proficiency in Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
Experience with networking protocols and hardware (e.g., routers, switches, wireless).
Knowledge of IT security practices and backup systems.
Familiarity with printing software solutions (e.g., RIP software, prepress tools) is a plus.
