Key responsibilities

• Installation and Repair: Install and repair various types of cables, whether overhead, underground, or in conduits. This includes splicing new cables and repairing existing ones for both new construction and outage restoration.

• Splicing and Termination: Splicing involves joining the individual wires or fibers within cables by twisting, soldering, or using fusion techniques, with a focus on minimizing signal loss. This also includes accurate cable terminations on cross-connects, patch panels, and routers.

• Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform tests to identify and locate cable faults and to validate the quality of the service, ensuring end-to-end connectivity and functionality.

• Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety standards and regulations, which may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or on energized circuits. They must also be proficient in safety equipment and procedures.

• Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including splicing schematics, production and time sheets, and other project-related paperwork.

• Physical Work: Perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing poles, using bucket lifts, working in trenches, and handling heavy equipment.

• Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve network issues to restore service and prevent future interruptions.

• Knowledge of all types of splicing, including fusion and mechanical splicing for fiber optics.
