Key responsibilities
Installation and Repair: Install and repair various types of cables, whether overhead, underground, or in conduits. This includes splicing new cables and repairing existing ones for both new construction and outage restoration.
Splicing and Termination: Splicing involves joining the individual wires or fibers within cables by twisting, soldering, or using fusion techniques, with a focus on minimizing signal loss. This also includes accurate cable terminations on cross-connects, patch panels, and routers.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform tests to identify and locate cable faults and to validate the quality of the service, ensuring end-to-end connectivity and functionality.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety standards and regulations, which may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or on energized circuits. They must also be proficient in safety equipment and procedures.
Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including splicing schematics, production and time sheets, and other project-related paperwork.
Physical Work: Perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing poles, using bucket lifts, working in trenches, and handling heavy equipment.
Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve network issues to restore service and prevent future interruptions.
