HVAC Technician

Job Summary
An HVAC Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The technician ensures systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with codes and regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and test HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation units

• Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning coils, replacing filters, lubricating parts, and checking refrigerant levels

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using diagnostic tools

• Repair or replace defective components (motors, compressors, thermostats, belts, valves, wiring)

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

• Ensure systems meet local building codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications

• Respond to service calls and provide timely, effective solutions

• Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation

• Communicate with customers to explain issues, repairs, and maintenance recommendations

• Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical components

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Physical ability to lift equipment and work in confined or elevated spaces

• Good communication and customer service skills

• EPA Section 608 certification (required in many regions)

• HVAC certification, technical diploma, or apprenticeship completion preferred

Work Environment

• Residential homes, commercial buildings, or industrial facilities

• Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions

• On-call, weekend, or emergency service may be required

• It is a Full Time Technician job for candidates with 1 - 4 years of experience.
