Electrical Supervisor / Electrical Engineer – Solar PV Installation

1. Job Summary
PRASAN TECHNO is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Supervisor / Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience in rooftop solar PV systems and solar power plant installations. The candidate will be responsible for supervising site installation, electrical works, commissioning, testing, quality control, and project execution to ensure safe and timely completion of solar projects.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Solar PV Installation & Execution
Supervise and execute residential, commercial, and industrial rooftop solar PV installations.
Handle on-grid solar PV systems and, preferably, off-grid and hybrid solar systems.
Supervise solar module mounting structures, panel installation, DC cabling, AC cabling, and inverter installation.
Ensure proper installation of string inverters, distribution boards, ACDB, DCDB, isolators, and protection devices.
Coordinate earthing, lightning protection, cable tray installation, and cable termination works.
Verify panel orientation, tilt angle, string configuration, and cable routing as per approved drawings.
B. Electrical Engineering & Technical Work
Read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and wiring diagrams.
Perform solar PV string calculations, cable sizing, and basic electrical load calculations.
Check inverter capacity, DC/AC ratio, voltage, current, and system configuration.
Ensure proper earthing, insulation resistance, polarity, continuity, and electrical protection.
Assist with generation monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance verification.
C. Site Supervision & Project Management
Allocate daily tasks to technicians, electricians, and installation teams.
Monitor site progress, manpower, tools, and material requirements.
Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors, and other site personnel.
Prepare daily progress reports, material consumption reports, and installation checklists.
Ensure project execution according to approved drawings, specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
D. Testing & Commissioning
Conduct pre-commissioning inspections and electrical safety checks.
Supervise inverter startup, system synchronization, and grid connectivity for on-grid systems.
Verify monitoring systems, generation data, and inverter fault logs.
Identify and resolve installation defects and electrical faults.
Support utility approvals, net-metering documentation, and inspections where applicable.
E. Safety & Quality
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety regulations and project specifications.
Enforce PPE usage, work-at-height safety, and safe rooftop working practices.
Ensure proper isolation and lockout/tagout procedures wherever applicable.
Inspect workmanship, cable termination, earthing, and equipment installation quality.
Maintain site records, test reports, and commissioning documentation.
3. Educational Qualifications
Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
ITI Electrical candidates with substantial solar installation experience may also be considered for the Supervisor position.
4. Required Skills & Experience
2–5 years of experience in rooftop solar PV installation and electrical site execution.
Practical knowledge of on-grid rooftop solar systems.
Hands-on experience with solar modules, inverters, DC/AC wiring, ACDB/DCDB, and earthing systems.
Ability to interpret SLDs and electrical layout drawings.
Experience using electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation resistance testers.
Good troubleshooting, team-handling, and site coordination skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites and work at heights while following safety procedures.
5. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in industrial and commercial rooftop solar projects.
Knowledge of net metering, grid synchronization, and solar monitoring platforms.
Familiarity with applicable BIS/IEC standards and relevant Indian electrical regulations.
Experience preparing BOQs, material requisitions, site reports, and commissioning checklists.
Valid two-wheeler or four-wheeler driving licence is an advantage.
