Job Description

· Install Hardware: Bolt cameras to walls, hang magnetic locks on doors, and mount motion sensors.

· Run Wires: Pull low-voltage cables through ceilings and walls to connect everything to a central "brain" or server.

· Set Up Software: Use a laptop to "talk" to the devices. You’ll give cameras IP addresses and program keycards so they open the right doors.

· Fix Problems: If a camera goes dark or a badge reader stops working, you’ll use tools to figure out if it’s a broken wire or a software glitch.

· Teach the User: Show the building manager how to view video footage or add a new employee to the system.

What You Need to Know (The Skills)

· Hand Tools: You’re comfortable with drills, screwdrivers, and wire strippers.

· Basic Tech: You know your way around a Windows laptop and understand how a Wi-Fi router or network switch works.

· Problem Solving: You enjoy "tinkering" until something works perfectly.

· Safety: You aren’t afraid of heights (using ladders) or working in tight spaces like utility closets.

The Requirements

· Experience: Usually 1–2 years in electrical work, cable pulling, or IT support.

· License: Depending on where you live, you might need a "Low Voltage" or "Security Installer" license.

· Physical: You can lift heavy boxes and stay on your feet for most of the day.
