Ensure that all structural designs comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards, such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for fire safety and fire alarm systems.
· Load Calculation and Analysis:
Perform load calculations and structural analysis to determine the appropriate support structures, supports, and hangers for various MEP systems.
· Coordination with MEP Disciplines:
Collaborate with HVAC engineers, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, and fire protection engineers to integrate structural solutions into the overall MEP system design.
· Design Software Proficiency:
Utilize structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000) to create detailed structural drawings and models.
· Construction Documentation:
Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and reports for structural components of the MEP system.
· On-Site Supervision and Support:
Provide on-site support and guidance to construction teams during installation of MEP systems, ensuring that structural components are installed according to design specifications.
· Problem-Solving:
Identify and resolve potential structural issues and conflicts with MEP systems.
· Cost Estimation:
Develop preliminary cost estimates for structural components of the MEP system.
· Project Management:
Assist in project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000).
