Founded in 2004, by Poonam Bagai, herself a cancer survivor, CanKids KidsCan is a national NGO working in
India to address the needs of children with cancer and their families. CanKids is dedicated to driving Change for
Childhood Cancer in India with an ambitious goal to achieve Universal health coverage through 100%
Access2Care & 100% Financial Protection by 2030 aligned to the WHO GICC (Global Initiative on Childhood
Cancer) and Sustainable Development Goals, thereby securing the Rights to health, education, childhood, pain-
free and palliative care and the Right to be heard for all children with cancer (0-19 years) in India.
CanKids is the only organization in India working at all levels - grassroots, district, state, and national- and
partnering and supporting hospitals, health authorities and professionals for the last 20 years to improve the
quality/standard of treatment, care, and other holistic support services. Through its 141 CanKids Hospital
Support Unit (CHSU) projects, CanKids ensures access to the best possible care for children with cancer and

Department Overview
The Department of Education at CanKids…KidsCan represents education outside of a standard school setting,
for children undergoing cancer treatment. Formal Education aims at activities with children and adults that will
help them learn as per the curriculum and also provide for cocurricular activities. Scholarships are provided to
children who have been reintegrated into their former schools.
A Non-Formal Education is the wise, respectful and spontaneous process of cultivating learning. It works
through conversation, and the exploration and enlargement of experience. Non-Formal education has activities
with children and adults. It will help the children to learn basic education, etiquettes and hygiene factors.
Through the Annual National Childhood Cancer Excellence Awards (ANCCEA), students who are undergoing
treatment and who are survivors, are felicitated for their indomitable will and courage to pursue excellence in
academics, creativity, sports and science and technology.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Minimum 2-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in remedial or special education.
Experience in individualized learning support and student assessment methodologies.
Prior work experience with children with health impairments or learning disabilities is preferred.
Operational Duties
1. Lesson Planning & Classroom Execution
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with PEP goals.
Use interactive and visual learning tools to support diverse learning needs.
Ensure students receive structured remedial support where required.
2. Student Monitoring & Reporting
Conduct diagnostic and periodic assessments to track student progress.
Maintain attendance logs and individual performance reports for each student.
Follow up on reintegration status and continued learning support.
3. Parent & Community Engagement
Organize awareness sessions and sensitization workshops for parents.
Ensure regular communication with parents on student progress.
Collaborate with local schools for reintegration efforts.
Additional Duties
