Job Title: School Guardian / School Safety Officer
Job Summary
The School Guardian protects students, staff, and school property. This role maintains a visible, approachable presence to deter unauthorized access and criminal activity. They act as a first responder in crisis situations and coordinate closely with school administration and law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
Campus Monitoring & Patrolling: Regularly patrol school buildings, parking lots, and grounds to deter rule violations, property damage, and unauthorized visitors.
Access Control: Monitor entry points, check visitor identification, and operate visitor management or metal-detection systems.
Emergency Response: Respond immediately to security breaches, altercations, or medical emergencies. Take decisive action during critical incidents (such as active threats or severe weather) and participate in mandatory safety drills (lockdown, fire, evacuation).
Student & Staff Support: Build positive, professional relationships with students, assist with conflict resolution, and help supervise arrival and dismissal times.
Reporting & Technology: Monitor surveillance cameras (CCTV) and alarm systems. Document and report unusual incidents or suspicious behavior to school administrators.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED certificate required; relevant college coursework or associate degree in criminal justice or a related field is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 6 month of experience in school / institute
Skills & Competencies
Situational Awareness: High level of alertness and sound judgment under pressure.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with children, teens, parents, and school staff.
Physical Fitness: Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and react swiftly during an emergency
