The Library Assistant will support the smooth functioning of the library by assisting in daily operations, helping students and staff, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring proper arrangement and upkeep of books and library resources.
Book Arrangement & Maintenance
Organize, shelve, and re-shelve books and other materials according to the library classification system.
Ensure books are neatly arranged, properly labeled, and easily accessible.
Assist in periodic inventory checks and report missing or damaged books.
Circulation Desk Support
Manage issuing and returning of books.
Maintain accurate records of borrowed, returned, and overdue books.
Assist users in locating books and understanding library rules.
Library Operations
Help in cataloguing and updating library databases.
Prepare and display new arrivals, notices, and reading materials.
Assist in maintaining a quiet, clean, and student-friendly library environment.
Student & Staff Assistance
Guide students on using library resources effectively.
Provide basic reference support to staff and students.
General Administrative Support
Support in organising library events, reading programs, and book fairs.
Handle routine administrative tasks assigned by the Librarian.
Basic understanding of library operations and classification systems.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to interact politely and patiently with students and staff.
Computer literacy for maintaining records (MS Office / Library software).
Prior experience in a school library (preferred but not mandatory).
