Job Summary:

The Library Assistant supports the daily operations of the library by assisting patrons, maintaining collections, managing circulation processes, and ensuring a welcoming and organized environment. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist library patrons with locating materials and using library resources.

• Perform circulation duties including checking materials in and out, renewing items, and handling holds and reservations.

• Maintain the organization of library materials by shelving books, managing returns, and ensuring correct categorization.

• Assist with cataloging, labeling, and processing new materials.

• Support digital library functions, including database access and e-book troubleshooting.

• Enforce library rules and help maintain a quiet, respectful environment.

• Assist with library programs and events, including preparation, setup, and promotion.

• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, data entry, and record-keeping.

• Help with inventory checks and maintenance of library equipment and supplies.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Basic computer literacy and ability to use office and library-specific software.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
