Oversee Cutting Operations: Manage and supervise the cutting of both knitted and woven fabrics to ensure precision, quality, and timeliness.
• Material Handling: Ensure appropriate materials are available and handled correctly, minimizing waste and ensuring material efficiency.
• Team Management: Lead, train, and manage a team of cutting department staff, ensuring they are equipped to handle the cutting of knits and woven fabrics.
• Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain production schedules for cutting operations, coordinating with other departments to meet overall production targets.
• Fabric Lay & Marker Making: Supervise the creation of fabric lays and markers, optimizing fabric usage and ensuring accuracy in the cutting process.
• Quality Control: Inspect cut fabric to ensure quality standards are met, address defects, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Machine Maintenance & Safety: Ensure that all cutting machines and tools are well-maintained, properly calibrated, and in safe working condition. Ensure compliance with safety procedures within the cutting department.
• Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management for cutting materials, ensuring optimal stock levels and effective material usage.
• Waste Management: Implement strategies to minimize fabric wastage and optimize material use during the cutting process.
• Collaboration: Work closely with design, sewing, and quality control teams to ensure seamless transitions from cutting to subsequent stages of production.
• Troubleshooting: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the cutting process, ensuring minimal disruptions to production timelines.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, or related field (preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in a cutting department, with significant exposure to both knitted and woven fabrics.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating both manual and automated cutting machines and equipment.
• Fabric Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the properties of knits and woven fabrics, including shrinkage, stretch, grain direction, and alignment.
• Leadership: Proven experience in team leadership, training, and managing staff in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues quickly and implement solutions to improve productivity and quality.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on precision, quality, and minimizing fabric waste.
• Safety & Maintenance Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safety practices and machine maintenance procedures within the cutting department.
