Job Description: Transport Coordinator:

Industry: Steel Supplier / Steel Trading / Metal & Engineering

Experience: 2–5 Years (Steel / Heavy Material Logistics preferred)
Qualification: Graduate / Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transportation & Dispatch Coordination:

· Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily transportation of steel products such as MS Plates, Coils, Pipes, Tubes, Sheets, Angles, Channels, Beams, Flanges, and SS products.

· Arrange trucks, trailers, and containers as per material size, weight, and delivery urgency.

· Coordinate with warehouse, loading team, and drivers for timely dispatch.

· Ensure proper loading and unloading of heavy steel materials as per safety norms.

2. Vendor & Transporter Management:

· Develop and manage a network of transporters, truck owners, and fleet operators.

· Negotiate freight rates and ensure cost-effective transportation.

· Maintain transporter agreements and rate cards.

· Resolve transporter-related issues including delays, damages, and disputes.

3. Documentation & Compliance:

· Prepare and verify transport documents such as:

o LR / GR

o E-way Bill

o Delivery Challan

o Invoice coordination

· Ensure GST compliance and validity of E-way bills during transit.

· Track POD (Proof of Delivery) and ensure timely submission.

4. Shipment Tracking & Coordination:

· Track shipments on real-time basis and provide regular updates to sales and customers.

· Handle delivery follow-ups and ensure on-time material delivery.

· Coordinate in case of vehicle breakdowns, route diversions, or delays.

5. Coordination with Sales & Customers:

· Work closely with the Sales, Inside Sales, and Accounts teams to align dispatch schedules.

· Communicate delivery timelines to customers and handle logistics-related queries.

· Support urgent and priority deliveries as per customer commitments.

6. Cost Control & Reporting:

· Monitor freight costs and optimize transportation expenses.

· Maintain daily dispatch reports, freight bills, transporter payments, and vehicle utilization records.

· Submit MIS reports on dispatch status, pending deliveries, and transporter performance.

7. Safety & Material Handling:

· Ensure compliance with safety standards during loading, transit, and unloading of steel materials.

· Minimize transit damages, shortages, and pilferage.

· Coordinate insurance claims if required.

Required Skills & Competencies:

· Strong knowledge of steel logistics and heavy material transportation

· Good understanding of GST, E-way bill system, LR/GR documentation

· Excellent coordination and negotiation skills

· Ability to handle pressure, urgent dispatches, and multiple vehicles

· Good communication skills in Hindi, English (regional language preferred)

· Basic computer skills (Excel, ERP, Tally / SAP preferred)

Compensation

· ₹25,000 – ₹35,000 per month (Based on experience & skills)
