JOB Description
A hotel steward ensures cleanliness, organization, and smooth operations in dining/kitchen areas by washing dishes, sanitizing equipment, setting/cleaning tables, restocking supplies, and supporting servers and chefs, all while adhering to strict health/safety standards to provide a great guest experience. They handle physical tasks like mopping, lifting, and managing stock, requiring stamina and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Sanitation & Cleaning:
Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and kitchen equipment; mopping floors; cleaning tables, chairs, and dining areas; managing waste and recycling.
Guest Service:
Greeting guests, seating them, serving water/drinks, presenting menus, and addressing basic queries.
Support & Setup:
Setting tables with linens and decorations; restocking server stations with napkins, utensils, etc.; assisting wait staff and chefs with food prep and plating.
Operations:
Monitoring stock levels, coordinating with housekeeping for linens, assisting with event setup/breakdown, and ensuring smooth function of kitchen/dining areas.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
Strong knowledge of hygiene and health/safety regulations.
Physical stamina for standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and moving.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours (weekends/holidays).
