Job Description – Captain (Food & Beverage / Restaurant)

Position: Captain
Department: Food & Beverage Service
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / F&B Manager

Role Overview:
The Captain is responsible for supervising the service team, ensuring excellent guest service, coordinating with kitchen staff, and maintaining smooth restaurant operations during service hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and guide waiters and stewards during service.

• Ensure guests are welcomed, seated, and served in a professional and courteous manner.

• Take or confirm guest orders and ensure accurate delivery of food and beverages.

• Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure timely service.

• Handle guest queries, complaints, and special requests efficiently.

• Ensure service standards, hygiene, and cleanliness are maintained.

• Train and mentor junior service staff.

• Monitor table turnover and ensure smooth flow of operations.

• Assist in billing and ensure accuracy before presenting to guests.

• Maintain knowledge of the menu, ingredients, and daily specials.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management / Hospitality preferred

• 2–4 years of experience in restaurant or hotel service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role

• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
