Restaurant Captain – Job Description

Position: Restaurant Captain
Seniority Level: Junior / Mid-Level
Preferred Education: Not Mandatory
Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in restaurant/hospitality operations
Location: On-site

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist guests in a professional and courteous manner.

• Supervise Stewards and ensure smooth day-to-day restaurant operations.

• Allocate tables and duties among service staff based on business requirements.

• Take guest orders accurately and ensure timely and proper service.

• Coordinate closely with the kitchen and service team to ensure food and beverages are served on time.

• Monitor table setup, cleanliness, hygiene and overall restaurant presentation.

• Handle guest requests, feedback and complaints professionally and ensure timely resolution.

• Ensure compliance with restaurant SOPs, food safety, hygiene and service standards.

• Check the availability and presentation of cutlery, crockery, glassware and other service items.

• Monitor service quality and guide team members whenever required.

• Support opening and closing procedures of the restaurant.

• Maintain proper coordination between the restaurant, kitchen and management.

• Assist in training and onboarding new service staff.

• Ensure smooth service during peak hours and special events.

• Be flexible to work in rotational shifts, weekends and holidays.

• Experience in hotel, fine-dining or high-volume restaurant operations

• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
