Responsibilities of a Kitchen Steward (KST)
Core duties
Cleaning and sanitation: Wash and sanitize all dishes, pots, pans, and cooking equipment. Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen floors, walls, and other equipment.
Waste management: Ensure proper garbage disposal and maintain sanitation standards.
Support: Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and other needs.
Inventory: Help manage inventory of kitchenware and supplies.
Supervisor and Executive level duties
Supervision: Oversee and coordinate the stewarding team, assign duties, and ensure efficient operations.
Quality control: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas.
Staff management: Train and mentor junior staff.
Cost control: Monitor food costs and implement inventory management systems to minimize waste.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
