VIDEO EDITOR & PODCAST EDITING
Podcast & Digital Content
Location: Delhi / NCR
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience: 1–3+ Years Preferred
Brand: Beyond the Surface
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Video Editor & Podcast Editing to take ownership of the visual content for our podcast, Beyond the Surface, and associated digital platforms.
This is not just a role for someone who can operate editing software.
We are looking for someone who understands storytelling, pacing, audience retention, visual design and social media content — and can take raw footage and turn it into polished content people actually want to watch.
You will work closely with the host and content team across long-form podcasts, short-form content, thumbnails, social media creatives and the overall visual identity of the show.
Key Responsibilities
1. Podcast Editing
· Edit full-length podcast episodes, typically 45–120 minutes.
· Work with multi-camera footage and multiple audio sources.
· Create clean, natural cuts while maintaining conversational flow.
· Perform basic colour correction and colour grading.
· Sync, clean and balance audio.
· Add titles, lower thirds, graphics, B-roll and other visual elements where required.
· Understand when to cut and when to let a conversation breathe.
· Maintain consistent visual and audio quality across episodes.
2. Reels, Shorts & Social Content
· Identify strong moments from long-form conversations and turn them into engaging short-form content.
· Edit Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts with strong hooks and pacing.
· Create professional subtitles/captions.
· Use punch-ins, B-roll, graphics, sound design and visual changes intelligently to improve retention.
· Adapt edits to suit different social platforms without making the content feel over-edited or gimmicky.
3. Thumbnails & Graphic Design
· Design high-quality YouTube thumbnails focused on clarity and click-through rate.
· Create Instagram Reel covers.
· Design podcast episode covers and promotional creatives.
· Create social media carousels and static posts when required.
· Maintain a consistent visual identity across all content.
· Develop reusable templates and design systems to improve production speed.
4. Content & Creative Thinking
We don't want someone who simply waits for editing instructions.
You should be able to watch an episode and think:
“This is the moment people need to see.”
You will be expected to contribute ideas around:
· Hooks
· Reel concepts
· Thumbnail concepts
· Titles and visual treatments
· B-roll opportunities
· Storytelling
· Retention
· Editing styles
· New content formats
Skills Required
Strong working knowledge of:
· Adobe Premiere Pro
· Adobe Photoshop
You should have a strong understanding of:
· Multi-camera podcast editing
· Audio synchronisation and cleanup
· Colour correction
· Motion graphics
· Typography
· Composition and visual hierarchy
· YouTube thumbnails
· Instagram Reels / YouTube Shorts
· Subtitle and caption design
· Social media aspect ratios and formats
· File management and organised editing workflows
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
· Has 1–3+ years of professional editing/design experience
· Has a strong portfolio of video editing work
· Has experience with podcasts, interviews, YouTube or long-form content
· Understands modern short-form editing without blindly following trends
· Has a good eye for premium, clean design
· Understands storytelling and audience attention
· Can work independently and take ownership
· Is organised with footage, project files and assets
· Can manage deadlines consistently
· Is comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly
· Pays attention to small details in audio, typography, cuts and graphics
· Is curious and actively studies great content
Podcast editing experience is strongly preferred.
What We DON'T Want
We are not looking for someone who:
· Depends entirely on templates
· Overuses transitions and effects
· Thinks good editing means making constant cuts
· Creates clickbait-looking thumbnails with no design sensibility
· Needs step-by-step instructions for every edit
· Cannot organise project files and footage
· Treats long-form and short-form editing as the same thing
We value taste and judgement as much as technical skill.
What You'll Work On
Content will include conversations with:
· Doctors
· Scientists
· Entrepreneurs
· Industry leaders
· Researchers
· Policymakers
· Healthcare professionals
· Agriculture and dairy experts
· Business leaders
· Other interesting people with deep expertise and experiences
The objective of the show is to create thoughtful conversations that go Beyond the Surface rather than chase short-term viral content.
