Job Title: Academic Counsellor

Department: Sales / Student Success

Industry: EdTech

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reporting To: Team Leader / Sales Manager


Job Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and student-focused Academic Counsellor to guide prospective students in selecting suitable educational programs. The candidate will be responsible for counselling, lead conversion, admissions, and maintaining long-term student relationships while achieving enrolment targets.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide counselling to students and parents regarding available courses and career opportunities.

  • Understand student needs, academic background, and career goals to recommend suitable programs.

  • Handle student enquiries through calls, emails, chats, and walk-ins.

  • Convert leads into admissions through effective counselling and regular follow-ups.

  • Explain course curriculum, benefits, fee structure, and career prospects.

  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions in CRM systems.

  • Coordinate with academic and operations teams for smooth onboarding of students.

  • Achieve assigned enrolment and revenue targets.

  • Provide post-admission support and resolve student concerns.

  • Stay updated with course offerings, industry trends, and competitor information.


Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent counselling and relationship-building abilities

  • Good convincing and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work in a target-driven environment

  • Strong problem-solving and listening skills

  • Basic knowledge of CRM tools and MS Office

  • Time management and organizational skills


Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

  • Master’s degree is an added advantage


Experience Required:

  • 0 – 3 years of experience in Academic Counselling / EdTech / Sales / Education Industry

  • Lead conversion ratio

  • Admission numbers

  • Revenue generation

  • Student satisfaction and retention

  • Follow-up and response time
