Job Summary:
The Physics Lab Technician will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and supporting laboratory operations to facilitate physics experiments, practical sessions, and research activities. The role requires ensuring the smooth functioning of all lab equipment, safety compliance, and assisting faculty and students during lab sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for scheduled physics practical classes and experiments.
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment and instruments to ensure accuracy and proper functioning.
Assist faculty members and students during laboratory sessions, ensuring adherence to experimental procedures and safety protocols.
Maintain inventory of laboratory materials, chemicals, consumables, and ensure timely procurement of required items.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Keep detailed records of experiments, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
Provide support for research projects and departmental activities as required.
Enforce and promote lab safety rules, including training students on safe handling of equipment and materials.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Qualification: Diploma/B.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a lab technician in an academic or research laboratory (freshers with strong technical knowledge may also apply).
Hands-on experience with physics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrometers, lasers, and measurement instruments is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of basic and advanced physics laboratory practices.
Good technical and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and protocols.
Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
Good communication skills to assist faculty and students effectively.
