The Floor Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, safety and timely completion of vehicle repairs before the vehicle is moved to billing and delivery. The FQC acts as an independent quality checkpoint between the Technician, Service Advisor, Workshop Manager and Customer, ensuring that repair work is carried out as per manufacturer/ dealership standards, customer concerns are properly addressed, and vehicles are delivered with minimum repeat complaints.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct quality inspection of vehicles after completion of repair/service work.
Verify that all jobs mentioned on the Job Card have been completed.
Inspect vehicles according to dealership quality standards.
Check critical mechanical, electrical, safety and functional parameters.
Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and safe before delivery.
Identify incomplete, incorrect or substandard repair work.
Ensure quality checks are completed before vehicle billing/delivery.
Understand and verify customer complaints mentioned on the Job Card.
Conduct functional checks to confirm that customer concerns have been resolved.
Perform road tests where required and permitted.
Verify that the reported concern is actually rectified.
Ensure no customer concern is closed without proper validation.
Coordinate with Service Advisors if the customer's concern requires further clarification.
Review Job Card details before and after repair.
Verify that all promised jobs have been completed.
Cross-check technician remarks and repair actions.
Ensure additional jobs are properly documented and approved.
Verify replacement of parts where applicable.
Ensure proper closure of technician jobs and repair orders.
Identify deviations from prescribed repair procedures.
Act as the final quality gate before vehicle delivery.
Do not release vehicles with unresolved safety or quality concerns.
Ensure all required quality checks are documented.
Coordinate with the Service Advisor for any pending repair or customer approval.
Provide clearance only after satisfactory quality inspection.
Ensure delivery is not delayed unnecessarily due to avoidable quality issues.
Document road-test observations
Escalate abnormal findings immediately.
Monitor repeat repair cases and repeat customer complaints.
Identify vehicles returning for the same concern.
Conduct root-cause analysis for repeated failures.
Coordinate with Technician, Service Advisor and Workshop Manager for corrective action.
Track repeat repair cases until permanent resolution.
Reduce repeat repairs and customer dissatisfaction.
Monitor quality of technician workmanship.
Identify recurring technician errors.
Provide technical feedback to technicians.
Coordinate with Workshop Manager for skill development.
Recommend training where repeated quality issues are identified.
Monitor compliance with dealership repair procedures and technical bulletins.
Coordinate with the Warranty team where technical validation is required.
Ensure proper documentation of warranty jobs.
Verify that replaced parts and repair procedures comply with warranty requirements.
Ensure safety standards are followed during repair and inspection.
Verify that safety-critical components are properly inspected.
Ensure vehicles are not released with unresolved safety concerns.
Monitor workshop housekeeping and safe vehicle movement around the workshop floor.
Report safety hazards immediately.
Follow dealership/ dealership workshop safety procedures.
Support Service Advisors in resolving technical customer concerns.
Assist in handling technically complex or dissatisfied customers.
Explain technical findings to Service Advisors in a customer-friendly manner.
Support accurate communication of repair status and technical findings.
Help reduce technical communication gaps between Workshop and Service teams.
Monitor repair progress on the workshop floor.
Identify delayed, stalled or technically complex jobs.
Coordinate with Workshop Manager and Service Advisors regarding delays.
Ensure technicians follow planned repair schedules.
Monitor vehicle movement between workshop, washing, quality check and delivery areas.
Ensure vehicles are not unnecessarily held at any process stage
Ensure compliance with dealership service SOPs.
Conduct periodic quality audits.
Educational Qualification
Diploma / ITI / B. Tech / BE in Automobile, Mechanical, Electrical or related technical field.
Experience
Experience: 4–8 years of experience in automobile service/workshop operations.
