Job Description – Service Engineer / Senior Service Engineer

Scope of Work

The Service Engineer / Senior Service Engineer shall be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic security and communication systems. The role involves field and site work and requires coordination with customers, project teams, vendors, and internal departments to ensure the smooth and timely execution of service and project activities.

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:

- Install, configure, test, commission, and maintain CCTV surveillance systems, including cameras, DVRs, NVRs, monitors, network equipment, and related accessories.

- Carry out installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Fire Alarm and Fire Detection Systems, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, control panels, hooters, MCPs, modules, and other associated devices.

- Perform installation, servicing, and maintenance of Walkie-Talkie and wireless communication systems.

- Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain PA (Public Address) Systems, including speakers, amplifiers, microphones, control units, and associated cabling.

- Conduct preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance activities as per the project, AMC, or customer requirements.

- Diagnose faults and technical issues in CCTV, fire alarm, PA systems, walkie-talkies, and other assigned electronic systems and ensure timely rectification.

- Perform camera installation and maintenance work at heights, including climbing ladders and accessing elevated locations while following all required safety procedures.

- Carry out proper mounting, alignment, positioning, testing, and adjustment of CCTV cameras to ensure optimum coverage and system performance.

- Perform cable laying, dressing, termination, crimping, testing, and labeling for power, network, communication, and control cables.

- Attend customer complaints, service calls, breakdown calls, and emergency maintenance requirements within the assigned timeline.

- Conduct routine inspections of installed systems and identify faults, damaged components, connectivity issues, and other technical problems.

- Coordinate with customers and site representatives to understand technical issues and provide appropriate solutions.

- Maintain and submit daily work reports, service reports, installation reports, and maintenance records.

- Ensure proper documentation of service activities, replaced materials, faults identified, corrective actions taken, and system status.

- Coordinate with project engineers, senior engineers, vendors, and technical teams for complex technical issues and project execution.

- Support Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) activities, including scheduled preventive maintenance visits, breakdown support, system health checks, and service documentation.

- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new projects as per approved drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.

- Verify the availability and condition of tools, testing instruments, safety equipment, and required materials before commencing site work.

- Maintain proper care and handling of company tools, equipment, testing devices, and materials issued for site activities.

- Follow all site safety procedures, including the safe use of ladders, PPE, electrical tools, and other equipment while working at customer or project locations.

- Coordinate with the office and project teams regarding site schedules, material requirements, travel plans, and pending work.

- Report material shortages, technical issues, site constraints, and customer concerns to the concerned reporting manager in a timely manner.

- Support material installation, replacement, testing, and handover activities at project sites.

- Ensure that all installations and service activities are completed as per company standards, client requirements, and applicable technical guidelines.

- Assist in system demonstrations, testing, and customer handover after successful installation or servicing.

- Maintain professional communication and behavior while dealing with customers, site staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.

- Be willing to travel to different project locations and work at customer sites as per business and project requirements.

- Perform any other technical, installation, servicing, maintenance, or project-related duties assigned by the company to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.

This scope of work may be expanded or modified based on organizational requirements, project needs, customer requirements, and management directives.

Requirements

- Diploma / ITI / Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, Computer Hardware, or a relevant technical field is preferred.

- Experience in CCTV, Fire Alarm Systems, PA Systems, Walkie-Talkies, ELV Systems, or related technical services will be preferred.

- Freshers with relevant technical knowledge may also be considered.

- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, networking, cable termination, and troubleshooting is preferred.

- Must be comfortable with field work, site work, travelling, and working at heights using ladders.

- Ability to identify and troubleshoot technical faults independently.

- Good communication and coordination skills.

- Ability to work individually as well as with a project team.
