Music Teacher

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Music Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for music in our students by teaching music theory, history, and practical performance skills. You will be responsible for designing and implementing an engaging music curriculum, conducting school ensembles or choirs, and organizing school performances.

Whether teaching a room full of beginners or refining the skills of advanced musicians, your goal will be to foster a supportive, inclusive, and culturally rich environment where every student can discover their musical potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Development: Design and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with educational standards, covering music theory, ear training, rhythm, and music appreciation.

• Instruction: Teach students how to read sheet music, understand musical notation, and play various instruments (or specialize in vocal/choral training).

• Performance Coordination: Direct, rehearse, and conduct student ensembles, bands, orchestras, or choirs for school concerts, assemblies, and community events.

• Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment that encourages student participation and creative expression.

• Individualized Support: Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback, adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

• Inventory & Equipment Care: Manage and maintain the music room, including the care, tuning, and storage of instruments, sheet music, and audio equipment.

• Collaboration: Work alongside other teachers and staff to integrate music into cross-curricular activities and school-wide events.

• Communication: Keep parents and administrators informed of student progress and upcoming musical events.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.

• Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification in Music (required for K-12 public schools; preferred for private schools).

• Experience: Previous teaching experience in a school setting, private studio, or community organization is highly preferred.

• Musical Expertise: Proficiency in playing at least one primary instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, violin) and a strong fundamental knowledge of woodwind, brass, percussion, or vocal techniques.

• Skills: Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students, parents, and staff.

  • Ability to read, arrange, and conduct music for groups.

• Background Check: Must pass standard background checks and child clearance requirements.
