Customs Broke

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing import and export processes, ensuring adherence to national customs laws, managing third-party customs brokers, and optimizing duty costs. This role acts as a bridge between the company, logistics vendors, and government border agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Customs Filing & Clearance: Review and approve Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, commercial invoices, and origin certificates prior to filing through trade portals (e.g., ICEGATE).

• Classification & Valuation: Assign and audit Harmonized System (HSN) tariff codes and ensure accurate customs valuation of imported/exported materials.

• Broker & Vendor Management: Oversee Custom House Agents (CHAs) and freight forwarders, maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for error-free clearance and zero port demurrage.

• Regulatory Compliance & Duty Schemes: Leverage trade programs (e.g., FTAs, SEZ rules, MOOWR bonded warehousing, Advance Authorizations) to optimize tariff costs legally.

• Audits & Record-Keeping: Conduct internal trade compliance audits, maintain statutory shipment records, and manage inquiries or notices from customs authorities.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Commerce, Law, or Finance.

• Experience: 3–6 years in private trade compliance, import/export management, or customs brokerage operations.

• Certifications (Preferred): Customs Broker License (e.g., CBLR in India), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), or APICS/CSCP.

• Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with ERP trade modules (SAP GTS, Oracle) and MS Excel.
