Job Summary
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems within the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted temperature, humidity, and air quality control in critical areas such as Operation Theatres, ICUs, Laboratories, Pharmacy, and Patient Care Areas.
Preventive Maintenance
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment.
Inspect and maintain chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, FCUs, exhaust systems, and ventilation equipment.
Clean air filters, coils, ducts, and drain lines as per maintenance schedules.
Maintain temperature and humidity levels according to hospital standards.
Corrective Maintenance
Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment failures and breakdowns.
Attend emergency calls related to HVAC system malfunctions.
Replace defective components such as motors, compressors, thermostats, valves, belts, and sensors.
Ensure minimum downtime of critical hospital HVAC systems.
Monitoring & Operations
Monitor HVAC system performance through BMS (Building Management System) or manual checks.
Record operating parameters such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and energy consumption.
Ensure proper functioning of HVAC systems in OTs, ICUs, Isolation Rooms, and Laboratories.
Maintain required air changes and positive/negative pressure requirements in critical areas.
Compliance & Safety
Follow hospital safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
Ensure compliance with NABH, Fire & Safety, Pollution Control, and statutory requirements.
Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing maintenance activities.
Report safety hazards and equipment abnormalities immediately.
Documentation
Maintain maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment history records.
Update preventive maintenance checklists and breakdown reports.
Assist in preparing AMC records and vendor service reports.
Maintain inventory records of HVAC spare parts and consumables.
Coordination
Coordinate with biomedical, electrical, plumbing, and facility teams during maintenance activities.
Liaise with external vendors for major repairs and annual maintenance contracts.
Support engineering projects related to HVAC upgrades and installations.
Additional Responsibilities
Ensure uninterrupted HVAC support during emergencies and disasters.
Participate in energy conservation initiatives.
Attend departmental meetings and training programs.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Facility Manager or Management.
