The Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of plumbing systems across the engineering college campus, including academic buildings, hostels, laboratories, staff quarters, and common facilities. The role ensures uninterrupted water supply, proper sanitation, and safe functioning of plumbing infrastructure in compliance with institutional safety and hygiene standards.
Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary fittings, and fixtures across campus buildings
Attend to plumbing complaints related to leaks, blockages, low water pressure, damaged pipes, taps, valves, toilets, and wash basins
Carry out preventive maintenance of plumbing systems, overhead tanks, underground sumps, pumps, and pipelines
Ensure proper functioning of sewage and drainage systems and attend emergency breakdowns promptly
Coordinate with electricians, civil staff, and external vendors for integrated maintenance work
Assist in plumbing works during new construction, renovation, or repair projects within the campus
Monitor water usage and report wastage, leakages, or system inefficiencies to the supervisor
Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition
Follow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to campus safety norms
Maintain basic maintenance records, job cards, and complaint logs
Perform duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Administration from time to time
ITI / Certificate in Plumbing or equivalent trade qualification
Practical knowledge of plumbing tools, fittings, pumps, valves, and sanitary systems
Ability to read basic drawings or layout plans (preferred)
Knowledge of safety practices and hygiene standards
Physically fit and able to perform manual work
Willingness to attend emergency calls and work in shifts if required
