Staff Nurse

This role requires a highly skilled, experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Critical Care Nurse capable of managing critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and respiratory support. The position demands proficiency in invasive procedures, continuous cardiac rhythm interpretation, and the operation of mechanical ventilation systems. [1, 2, 3, 4]Job SummaryThe Nurse (ICU/Step-down) will provide comprehensive bedside care, including the insertion and management of IV access (Vigo), continuous ECG monitoring to detect arrhythmias, and the management of patients on semi-ventilator support. [1, 2, 3]Key Responsibilities

• Vigo (IV Cannulation/Line Management): Insert, secure, and maintain peripheral intravenous catheters (Vigo), central lines, or arterial lines, ensuring patency and observing for signs of infection.

• ECG/Cardiac Monitoring: Perform and interpret 12-lead ECGs and continuous telemetry monitoring to identify arrhythmias, ischemic changes, or heart rate fluctuations.

• Semi-Ventilator/Respiratory Care: Manage patients on non-invasive or invasive ventilation, including adjusting ventilator settings, conducting airway suctioning, managing artificial airways (ETT/Tracheostomy), and responding to ventilator alarms.

• Patient Assessment & Treatment: Perform head-to-toe assessments, administer medications (including high-alert cardiac drips/sedatives), and monitor hemodynamic parameters.

• Emergency Response: Provide immediate intervention during cardiac or respiratory emergencies, including ACLS/BLS protocols.

• Documentation: Maintain precise, real-time records of vitals, ventilator settings, and patient responses in electronic or paper charts. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11]

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience (typically 1+ years) in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), or High Dependency Unit (HDU).

• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skill in IV cannulation and intravenous drug administration.

• Cardiac Competence: Strong ability to interpret ECG rhythms and handle cardiac emergencies.

• Ventilator Management: Experience with ventilator modes, settings, and troubleshooting alarms.

• Certifications: Active RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)..
