Job Summary:
The Diesel Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains diesel engines and related systems on various vehicles, such as trucks,
buses, and heavy equipment. This job requires a solid understanding of diesel engine mechanics, electrical systems, hydraulics,
and diagnostics. The right candidate is motivated, committed to quality work, and has a strong work ethic.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Performroutine maintenance and complex repairs on diesel engines used in construction equipment
Diagnose and repair faulty parts including injectors, pumps, filters, and engine components using diagnostic tools and
manuals
Operate diagnostic software or tools for accurate analysis
Interpret fault codes and conduct tests to resolve operational problems
Attend to breakdowns at projectsites and perform on-site repairs or servicing
Ensure minimal downtime and coordinate with project managers for equipment availability
Keep maintenance records and logs up to date for all serviced equipment
Adhere to workplace safety norms, PPE usage, and maintenance of a clean work environment
Maintain service logs, repair notes, and parts inventory usage
Assist in maintaining equipment service records for audit and warranty purposes
Qualifications:
ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in Diesel Mechanic Trade (Government recognized)
Experience required of 0-1 year, freshers are also considered.
Apprenticeship or training with equipment manufacturers or authorized service centres(preferable)
Safety and Maintenance Certifications (such as ISO-based or OSHA compliance training, where applicable)
Skills required:
Hands-on expertise with diesel engine systems and heavy machinery
Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagrams
Competent in the use of diagnostic tools and scan tools.
Problem-solving, troubleshooting skills and critical thinking
Time management and ability to work under pressure
Dedicated to travel anywhere when needed
Strong communication and teamwork for coordination with operators, supervisors, and engineers
