Job Description – Argon Welder (TIG Welder)

Job Purpose
To perform high-quality Argon (TIG) welding on stainless steel components used in modular kitchen products, ensuring weld strength, dimensional accuracy, and premium surface finish as per engineering drawings and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Read and understand engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and work instructions before starting welding work.
Perform Argon (TIG) welding on stainless steel components such as cabinets, sinks, countertops, frames, shelves, and accessories.
Prepare and align workpieces before welding to ensure proper fit-up.
Set up and operate the TIG welding machine with the correct welding parameters according to material thickness.
Ensure smooth, clean, and defect-free welds with minimum distortion.
Grind, clean, and finish welded joints wherever required.
Inspect welded components for quality, penetration, alignment, and dimensional accuracy before forwarding to the next process.
Rectify welding defects identified during inspection.
Maintain welding equipment, torches, regulators, cables, and gas cylinders in good working condition.
Handle argon gas cylinders safely and follow all safety procedures while welding.
Maintain cleanliness of the welding area and implement 5S practices.
Minimize material wastage and prevent damage to finished components.
Coordinate with Fabrication, Grinding, Polishing, and Quality teams to achieve production targets.
Report machine breakdowns, material shortages, or quality issues to the Supervisor immediately.
Follow company SOPs, quality standards, and safety guidelines at all times. Proper setup, drawing interpretation, welding parameters, weld inspection, and safety practices are core responsibilities for TIG/Argon welders in manufacturing environments.
Skills & Competencies
Good knowledge of TIG (Argon) welding on stainless steel.
Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings.
Knowledge of welding symbols and measuring instruments.
Understanding of welding defects and corrective actions.
Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Good hand-eye coordination and teamwork.
Qualification
ITI Welder / Fabrication or equivalent.
Certification in TIG/Argon welding is preferred.
Experience
Skilled: 3–5 years of experience in TIG (Argon) welding of stainless steel products.
Semi-Skilled: 1–3 years of relevant experience.
Helper: Fresher or up to 1 year assisting welders in fabrication activities.

First-pass welding quality.
Rework and rejection percentage.
Welding defect rate.
Material and gas utilization.
Compliance with safety and 5S standards.
On-time completion of assigned jobs.
