A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Operator sets up, runs, and maintains CNC machines to produce precise metal or plastic parts from technical drawings, involving loading materials, selecting tools, adjusting settings (like G/M codes), inspecting finished products for quality using measuring tools, and performing routine maintenance, all while adhering to safety protocols and ensuring efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup & Operation:
Load raw materials, select and install cutting tools, set machine parameters (feeds, speeds, offsets), and run programs (G-code/M-code).
Quality Control:
Read blueprints, measure finished parts with precision instruments (calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet specifications, and identify defects.
Maintenance:
Perform daily checks, clean the machine, and conduct minor troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
Programming (Optional/Advanced):
Make minor program edits (G-code/M-code) to optimize performance or meet specific part requirements.
Safety:
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
