🏢 JOB OVERVIEW

Our client, a reputed Automobile / Auto Components Manufacturing Company, is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Supervisor to manage day-to-day sheet metal production activities and shop-floor operations.

The selected candidate will be responsible for production planning and execution, manpower supervision, sheet metal fabrication processes, quality control, material utilization, rejection reduction, productivity improvement and achievement of daily production targets, while maintaining safety and 5S standards.

🔧 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production & Shop-Floor Supervision

• Supervise daily sheet metal fabrication and production activities.

• Plan and allocate manpower according to production requirements.

• Ensure achievement of daily production targets as per schedule and quality standards.

• Monitor shop-floor activities and ensure smooth production flow.

• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Stores and other departments.

• Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machines and materials.

Sheet Metal Process Management

• Supervise processes including:

  • Cutting

  • Bending

  • Shearing

  • Punching

  • Pressing

  • Drilling

  • Welding

  • Grinding / Finishing

• Ensure proper machine setup, tooling and process parameters.

• Monitor material movement and minimize material wastage.

• Identify production bottlenecks and take corrective action.

• Ensure production is carried out according to approved processes and work instructions.

Quality Control

• Ensure products conform to engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

• Monitor dimensional accuracy and fabrication quality.

• Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection and approval.

• Control rejection, rework, scrap and material wastage.

• Investigate recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Manpower Management

• Supervise operators, helpers, welders and other shop-floor personnel.

• Allocate jobs and monitor individual and team performance.

• Guide and train operators on proper production methods.

• Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to company procedures.

• Ensure adequate manpower availability as per production requirements.

Productivity & Maintenance

• Monitor machine utilization, productivity and downtime.

• Coordinate with the Maintenance Department during machine breakdowns.

• Ensure preventive maintenance activities are followed.

• Work towards reducing cycle time, machine downtime, rejection and rework.

• Support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety & 5S

• Ensure strict compliance with shop-floor safety procedures.

• Maintain proper 5S, housekeeping and workplace discipline.

• Ensure appropriate PPE is used by employees.

• Report unsafe conditions, accidents and machine abnormalities immediately.

• Promote a safe and clean working environment.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily production, rejection and downtime reports.

• Monitor manpower utilization and production output.

• Record material consumption and wastage where required.

• Prepare shift-wise / daily production reports for management.

• Track production performance against planned targets.

💻 REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong practical knowledge of Sheet Metal Fabrication and Production.

• Good understanding of engineering drawings and basic GD&T.

• Knowledge of sheet metal materials, thicknesses, tooling and fabrication methods.

• Practical knowledge of press, shearing, bending, punching and welding processes.

• Ability to identify and resolve production and quality-related problems.

• Knowledge of Vernier Caliper, Micrometer and other measuring instruments.

• Understanding of production planning, productivity improvement and rejection control.

• Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen and shop-floor safety will be an advantage.

• Good manpower handling and team supervision skills.

🎓 QUALIFICATION

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering or relevant technical qualification.

Candidates with strong practical experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication / Automobile / Auto Components Manufacturing will be preferred.

💼 EXPERIENCE

3–8 Years of relevant experience in:

Sheet Metal Fabrication | Automobile Manufacturing | Auto Components | Production Supervision | Fabrication Shop

Candidates with hands-on experience in managing sheet metal production teams and shop-floor operations will be preferred.
