Store keeper

The Storeroom Keeper is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and maintaining raw materials, consumables, tools, spare parts, and finished goods. The role ensures accurate inventory records, proper material handling, and timely availability of materials for production.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive materials and verify quantity, quality, specifications, and condition against the Purchase Order and delivery challan.

• Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) and maintain inward and outward registers.

• Store materials systematically with proper identification, labelling, and bin locations.

• Issue materials only against authorised requisitions or job cards.

• Maintain accurate stock records in ERP/software, Excel, bin cards, and stock registers.

• Monitor minimum, maximum, reorder, and critical stock levels.

• Inform the Purchase Department about shortages and required replenishment.

• Follow FIFO/FEFO methods wherever applicable.

• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly physical stock verification.

• Investigate and report stock shortages, excess quantities, damages, and record mismatches.

• Maintain records of rejected, damaged, slow-moving, and obsolete materials.

• Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Quality, Accounts, and Dispatch departments.

• Ensure proper handling and safe storage of materials, tools, and equipment.

• Maintain cleanliness and systematic arrangement of the store area.

• Prevent material loss, theft, damage, and unauthorised movement.

• Provide stock reports and supporting documents for audits.

• Follow company safety, fire-prevention, and material-handling procedures.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of inventory and warehouse-management procedures

• Understanding of GRN, PO, challan, material requisition, and stock-transfer documents

• Basic proficiency in MS Excel and inventory/ERP software

• Good numerical accuracy and record-keeping ability

• Knowledge of FIFO, FEFO, minimum stock, and reorder levels

• Good coordination and communication skills

• Ability to identify and organise manufacturing materials

• Honest, responsible, disciplined, and detail-oriented

Qualification and Experience

• Education: 12th pass, graduate, ITI, diploma, or equivalent

• Experience: 1–3 years in stores or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing company

• Computer knowledge: MS Excel and ERP/inventory software preferred
