Job Purpose
To lead and manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions for the manufacturing of filter bags, filter cloth, and related industrial filtration products. The role is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, compliance with customer specifications and standards, reduction of rejection/rework, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management
Establish and maintain QA/QC systems for filter bag and filter cloth manufacturing.
Ensure products meet customer specifications, drawings, approved samples, and applicable quality standards.
Develop and maintain Quality Plans, Inspection Plans, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
Monitor quality at incoming material, in-process, and final inspection stages.
Set quality parameters and acceptance criteria for different products.
2. Incoming Material Inspection
Inspect and approve incoming filter media, fabrics, yarn, thread, felt, PPS/P84/PTFE/Aramid/Polyester materials, accessories, cages, rings, stitching materials, etc.
Verify supplier test certificates and material specifications.
Maintain records of incoming inspection and supplier quality performance.
3. In-Process Quality Control
Monitor manufacturing processes such as cutting, stitching, welding, finishing, calendaring, coating, lamination, and assembly as applicable.
Ensure correct dimensions, stitching quality, seam strength, fabric construction, weight/GSM, thickness, permeability, and other specified parameters.
Identify process deviations and coordinate with Production for corrective action.
4. Final Inspection & Testing
Conduct final inspection of filter bags and filter cloth before dispatch.
Ensure dimensional accuracy, workmanship, appearance, labeling, packing, and traceability.
Review test results and approve products for dispatch.
Coordinate internal and external laboratory testing wherever required.
5. Customer Quality
Review customer complaints and quality issues.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, CAPA, etc.
Implement corrective and preventive actions and monitor their effectiveness.
Support customer audits and technical discussions related to quality.
6. Supplier Quality Management
Evaluate and monitor supplier quality.
Establish incoming quality standards for critical raw materials.
Coordinate supplier corrective actions for recurring quality problems.
Participate in supplier audits when required.
7. Documentation & Systems
Maintain inspection reports, test reports, NCRs, CAPA, calibration records, and quality-related documents.
Ensure proper batch/lot traceability from raw material to finished product.
Prepare and maintain quality KPIs and management reports.
Support implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 and other applicable management systems.
8. Calibration & Testing Equipment
Ensure timely calibration of measuring and testing instruments.
Maintain calibration records and identify equipment requiring verification or replacement.
Ensure proper handling and maintenance of laboratory/testing equipment.
9. Quality Improvement
Analyze rejection, rework, customer complaints, and process defects.
Drive reduction in rejection and improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
Implement continuous improvement initiatives in coordination with Production and Engineering.
Train operators and inspectors on quality requirements and inspection methods.
10. Team Management
Lead and supervise QA/QC inspectors, technicians, and laboratory personnel.
Define responsibilities and inspection procedures for the quality team.
Conduct regular training and skill development.
Promote a strong quality culture throughout the organization.
