Job Title: Quality Manager – Aerospace & Defence

Department: Quality Assurance

Location: Bidadi, Banglore]

Reports to: Plant Head / Director – Operations

Team Size: Inspectors, Engineers[20 nos]

Job Summary

We are looking for a Quality Manager to lead the Quality function for aerospace and defence components. You will own the QMS, ensure AS9100 Rev D compliance, drive zero-defect culture, and be accountable for customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across NPI, production, and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Management System & Compliance

- Own, maintain, and improve the AS9100 Rev D / ISO 9001 QMS; ensure audit readiness at all times

- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, DPAS, ITAR/EAR, DFARS, and special process specifications like NADCAP

- Lead internal audits, management reviews, and third-party/customer audits including FAA, EASA, DGCA, or prime contractors

- Approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) per AS9102 and maintain configuration control

2. Team Leadership & Operations

- Manage and develop a team of Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and Lab Technicians

- Set department KPIs: DPPM, OTD, COPQ, FPY, customer escapes, audit findings

- Plan resource allocation for incoming, in-process, final, and source inspection

- Ensure calibration, MSA, and lab capabilities meet aerospace requirements

3. Customer & Supplier Quality

- Act as primary interface for customer quality issues, complaints, and SCARs

- Lead containment, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions using 8D, 5-Why, PFMEA

- Drive supplier quality development, PPAP/FAI approvals, and supplier audits

- Represent Quality in APQP, NPI, and design reviews to ensure DFM/DFA and CTQ flow-down

4. Continuous Improvement

- Lead zero-defect and FOD prevention programs across the plant

- Reduce COPQ through data-driven projects using Six Sigma, SPC, Lean tools

- Deploy Advanced Product Quality Planning, Risk Management per AS9145

- Champion counterfeit parts prevention, human factors, and safety culture

5. Strategic & Reporting

- Report quality performance to senior management and support business growth with new customer approvals

- Support cost estimates and quality inputs for RFQs

- Ensure record retention and traceability per aerospace norms

Required Qualifications

- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Production. http://M.Tech/MBA preferred

- Experience: 8–12 years in Quality, with 4+ years in aerospace/defence manufacturing. Min 3 years in managerial role

- Certifications: Lead Auditor AS9100, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt preferred. ASQ CQE/CQM a plus

- Technical Expertise:

- Strong GD&T ASME Y14.5, CMM programming concepts, NDT methods

- Deep knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS9103, AS9145, AS13000 series

- Special processes: heat treat, surface treatment, welding, composites, NADCAP

- Proficiency with 8D, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC
