A production manager oversees manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. They coordinate production schedules, manage staff, optimize workflows, enforce health and safety regulations, and implement continuous improvement strategies. [1, 2]

Key Responsibilities

• Production Planning: Develop and manage production schedules, allocating human and material resources to meet delivery deadlines. [1, 2, 3]

• Quality Control: Establish and enforce quality standards to ensure finished products consistently meet company and regulatory requirements. [1, 2]

• Budget Management: Monitor production costs, optimize material usage, and implement cost-saving measures to stay within the allocated budget. [1, 2]

• Team Leadership: Supervise production floor personnel, manage shift schedules, conduct performance appraisals, and organize team training. [1, 2, 3]

• Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate routine equipment maintenance and repairs to prevent workflow delays and reduce downtime. [1, 2, 3]

• Health & Safety: Enforce compliance with all environmental and workplace safety regulations (e.g., OSHA protocols) to minimize hazards. [1, 2, 3]

• Process Optimization: Identify production bottlenecks and utilize lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement and efficiency. [1, 2, 3]

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5+ years of proven experience in production management, manufacturing, or operations.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Process), Supply Chain, or a related field.

• Technical Skills: Deep understanding of production management procedures, manufacturing standards, and proficiency in ERP software.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams under pressure
