Role Overview

The Nursery Production Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all plant production activities to ensure healthy stock, efficient operations, and timely supply. This role focuses on achieving high-quality plant growth, stock availability, and overall productivity of the nursery.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement production plans for seasonal and annual plant varieties.

• Maintain optimum sowing, propagation, growing, and harvesting schedules.

• Monitor plant health, growth conditions, and environmental controls.
  

Operations & Stock Management

• Ensure adequate stock levels of soil, fertilizers, pesticides, pots, and materials.

• Maintain and update daily stock registers and inventory records.

• Manage greenhouse spaces, irrigation schedules, and pest control systems.

• Ensure proper labeling, pricing, and categorization of plants.
  

Quality & Maintenance

• Conduct regular inspections for plant diseases, pests, and nutrient issues.

• Implement best practices in horticulture for maximum yield and quality.

• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of nursery, greenhouses, and equipment.
  

Team Management

• Supervise, train, and schedule production staff.

• Allocate daily tasks and ensure productivity and discipline.

• Maintain safety standards and ensure proper handling of chemicals & tools.
  

Vendor & Customer Coordination

• Coordinate with vendors for raw materials procurement.

• Assist sales team in identifying ready stock and upcoming availability.

• Support customer queries regarding plant care and recommendations (if needed).
  

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.

• Maintain plant lifecycle records, cost tracking, and wastage reports.

• Monitor and control production budget and expenses.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Horticulture / Agriculture (preferred)

• 3–5 years of experience in nursery operations/plant production

• Strong knowledge in plant propagation, pest management, and soils

• Leadership, planning, and communication skills

• Ability to work in outdoor/greenhouse environments
