Production engineer

The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and improving daily production activities to ensure maximum productivity, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. The role involves coordinating with production, quality, maintenance, stores, and planning teams to achieve production targets while minimizing downtime and wastage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute daily production activities as per the production schedule.

• Monitor machine utilization, production output, and operator performance.

• Ensure production targets are achieved within the defined quality standards.

• Coordinate with the PPC team for material availability and production planning.

• Monitor and reduce production rejections, rework, and material wastage.

• Prepare and maintain daily production reports, shift reports, and MIS.

• Implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce cycle time.

• Coordinate with the Quality department to resolve production-related quality issues.

• Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and safety regulations.

• Coordinate with the Maintenance department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.

• Train and guide machine operators on production processes and best practices.

• Monitor manpower allocation and optimize workforce utilization.

• Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

• Ensure proper documentation related to production processes and records.

• Participate in new product development (NPD) trials and process validation when required.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes.

• Understanding of fabrication, welding, laser cutting, bending, and assembly operations.

• Production planning and process monitoring.

• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM.

• Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

• Good communication and team coordination skills.

• Strong analytical and reporting skills.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/MRP software, and production documentation.
