Job Title: Plant Head – Electronic Systems Design & Manufacturing (ESDM)

Reporting To: Chief Operations Officer / CEO

Role Overview

The Plant Head will be responsible for leading end-to-end operations of the ESDM facility, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role demands a strategic leader who can drive operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and scale manufacturing capabilities while maintaining high quality and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations & Production Management

• Oversee daily plant operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are met.

• Drive manufacturing efficiency through lean practices, automation, and process optimization.

• Monitor KPIs such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), yield, throughput, and downtime.

2. Engineering & Process Excellence

• Lead manufacturing engineering, NPI (New Product Introduction), and process development.

• Ensure robust DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Testing) practices.

• Implement continuous improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

3. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to quality standards such as ISO, IPC, and industry-specific certifications.

• Drive zero-defect culture and continuous quality improvements.

• Oversee audits, regulatory compliance, and customer quality requirements.

4. Supply Chain & Inventory Management

• Manage procurement, vendor development, and inventory control.

• Optimize supply chain for cost, reliability, and scalability.

• Ensure availability of materials aligned with production planning.

5. Financial & Cost Management

• Own plant P&L, budgeting, and cost optimization initiatives.

• Drive cost reduction through process improvements and strategic sourcing.

• Monitor and control operational expenditures.

6. People Leadership & Talent Development

• Build and lead a high-performance team across production, engineering, and support functions.

• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.

• Develop succession planning and capability building programs.

7. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.

• Promote a safe and sustainable workplace.

8. Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Interface with customers for project updates, audits, and escalations.

• Collaborate with R&D, sales, and corporate leadership for business growth.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

• Deep understanding of electronics manufacturing processes (PCB assembly, SMT, testing, etc.).

• Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 practices.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong financial acumen and business orientation.

• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• MBA (preferred).

Experience

• 15–20+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or ESDM.

• Proven experience in leading large-scale manufacturing plants.

• Strong exposure to EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) and high-mix, low-volume or mass production environments.
