
We are looking for a lathe operator uses a lathe machine to shape, cut, bore, and thread materials like metal or plastic into precise parts, requiring skill in setting up, programming (for CNC), monitoring, and ensuring quality by interpreting blueprints and making adjustments, often involving critical thinking for custom components in various industries. The role demands strict safety (proper attire, hair tied back) and technical knowledge to produce items for manufacturing, food processing, or aerospace, with paths to entry often through apprenticeships or on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
Setup & Operation:
Mount workpieces, fix cutting tools, set speeds and feeds, and operate the machine manually or program it for automated (CNC) runs.
Material Shaping:
Turn, face, bore, drill, and thread materials like steel, aluminum, or plastics into specific shapes.
Quality Control:
Use measuring tools (like micrometers) to check dimensions against technical drawings, making precise adjustments for accuracy.
Maintenance:
Perform basic machine upkeep and troubleshooting.
