Job Summary

A Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment and machinery used in manufacturing plants, construction sites, power plants, refineries, and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.

• Assemble and fit mechanical components, pipes, shafts, bearings, pumps, valves, and gear systems.

• Perform installation, alignment, and calibration of machinery and equipment.

• Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance.

• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.

• Use hand tools, power tools, welding, and measuring instruments safely.

• Replace defective machine parts and ensure proper functioning.

• Maintain maintenance records and job reports.

• Follow workplace safety standards and permit systems.

• Coordinate with electricians, welders, and production teams during shutdowns and maintenance activities.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial machinery.

• Ability to read engineering drawings.

• Familiarity with pumps, compressors, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of safety procedures and PPE usage.
