Job Title: CNC Laser Cutting Machine Operator – Fabrication

Job Summary
The CNC Laser Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to accurately cut metal sheets and components as per approved drawings and production schedules. The role focuses on precision, safety, quality, and optimal material utilization.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
Operate CNC Laser Cutting Machines (Fiber / CO₂).
Set up machines including loading sheets, setting parameters, and selecting cutting programs.
Execute cutting operations as per CAD drawings and nesting files.
Monitor machine performance during cutting to ensure consistent quality.
Programming & Drawing Understanding
Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
Use or assist with nesting software to optimize material usage.
Make basic adjustments to CNC programs when required.
Quality Control
Inspect cut parts for dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and burr-free finish.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and client specifications.
Minimize scrap and rework through accurate setup and monitoring.
Maintenance & Safety
Perform daily cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
Check and replace consumables like nozzles, lenses, and assist gases.
Follow safety guidelines, machine SOPs, and PPE usage strictly.
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with production, QC, and design teams for smooth workflow.
Maintain job cards, production logs, and shift reports.
Report machine breakdowns, defects, or material shortages immediately.
Skills & Competencies
Hands-on experience with CNC Laser Cutting Machines (Trumpf / Amada / Bystronic / IPG / Similar).
Knowledge of cutting MS, SS, Aluminum, GI, and Brass sheets.
Ability to read CAD drawings and nesting layouts.
Understanding of CNC controls, parameters, and cutting technologies.
Good attention to detail and troubleshooting ability.
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in CNC, Machinist, Fitter, or Mechanical Engineering.
2–6 years of experience in CNC laser cutting or sheet metal fabrication.
Preferred Skills
Experience with bending, punching, and welding coordination.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or nesting software.
Exposure to high-volume or precision fabrication environments.
