The CNC Setter is responsible for setting up CNC machines (Turning / Milling / VMC / HMC) according to production requirements, ensuring optimal machine performance, maintaining part quality, and supporting smooth production operations.
Set up CNC machines by installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, jaws, collets, and machine parameters.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, CNC programs, and process sheets.
Load programs into the machine and make necessary parameter offsets and adjustments.
Conduct first-piece inspection and ensure quality compliance before handing over for production.
Perform tool life monitoring and replace worn-out tools as required.
Troubleshoot machine, tool, and dimensional issues during setup.
Ensure machines are set up as per production plan and support operators during job run.
Maintain 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards in the machine shop.
Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to resolve machining-related issues.
Maintain records of machine setup, tool changes, and inspection reports.
Strong knowledge of CNC machine operations (Turning / Milling / VMC).
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Good understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
Experience with CNC controllers (Fanuc / Siemens / Mazak / Mitsubishi etc.).
Basic knowledge of measurement instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge).
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and quality focus.
Ability to work independently and within the team.
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Machinist, or Tool & Die.
2–5 years of experience as CNC Setter in a manufacturing environment.
Rotational or fixed shift (as per company requirement).
Ability to stand for long hours and handle tooling/manual setup activities.
As per industry standards / based on experience.
