Job Description: CNC Operator – Aerospace Milling

Role Objective

To set up and operate high-precision CNC Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to produce mission-critical aerospace components. The operator will work with tight tolerances (often within 5–10 microns) and must ensure 100% compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100D).

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC Milling machines (e.g., Jyoti VMC 1260, VMC 850, and K3X8 Five).

• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.

• Setup & Tooling: Load raw materials (Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Titanium) and perform tool changes, offset settings, and work-piece alignment using edge finders or dial indicators.

• Programming Support: Assist in loading and verifying programs from MasterCAM, Delcam, or PowerMill. Perform basic G-code and M-code editing at the controller (Fanuc/Siemens).

• Quality Inspection: Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using precision instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and 2D Height Masters.

• Precision Standards: Maintain extremely tight tolerances required for aerospace actuators, brackets, and spacecraft mechanisms.

• Documentation: Maintain daily production logs, stage inspection reports, and job route cards as per ISO/AS9100 requirements.

• Maintenance: Perform daily preventive maintenance, including checking coolant levels, oiling, and machine cleaning.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: ITI (Machinist/Turner/Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

• Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in CNC Milling/VMC, preferably in an aerospace or precision engineering environment.

• Technical Knowledge: • Proficiency in Fanuc or Siemens controls.

  • Strong understanding of 4th and 5th axis rotary table operations.

  • Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different aerospace alloys.

• Precision: Ability to work with tolerances as fine as 5 microns.

• Soft Skills: High attention to detail, discipline in safety protocols (PPE), and ability to work in shifts.

Preferred Infrastructure Experience

Candidates familiar with the following machines used at Seonics will be preferred:

• Jyoti VMC: 1260, 1050, 850, and NX 3222.

• 5-Axis: Jyoti K3X8 Five.

• Software: Exposure to MasterCAM or Delcam (PowerMill).
