The Pump Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining dewatering pumps and related equipment at project sites. The role ensures uninterrupted water removal operations to support construction, mining, and industrial activities.
Operate various types of dewatering pumps such as submersible pumps, sewage pumps, slurry pumps, and diesel-driven pumps.
Start, stop, and adjust pump settings as per site requirements.
Monitor pump performance, pressure, flow rate, and fuel consumption.
Maintain optimum water levels at site by continuous supervision of pump operations.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of pumps, hoses, panels, valves, and generators.
Identify mechanical or electrical issues and perform basic troubleshooting.
Ensure timely reporting of major breakdowns to maintenance/technical teams.
Follow all safety guidelines and ensure safe installation of pumps, cables, and pipelines.
Maintain proper housekeeping around pump installation areas.
Ensure compliance with company policies and project-specific safety norms.
Maintain daily operation logs including fuel usage, running hours, downtime, and servicing details.
Report equipment health status and spare requirements to supervisors.
Assist in preparing inspection reports and handover notes at site.
Strong understanding of dewatering operations and pump installation.
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Ability to diagnose common fault issues in pumps and diesel engines.
Physically fit and able to work in outdoor site conditions.
Good communication and documentation abilities.
Minimum: ITI / Diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, or related).
Experience: 1–5 years experience in dewatering / pump operation industry preferred.
Experience with submersible pumps, HDPE piping, valves, and generator-based systems is an added advantage.
Punctual, responsible, and proactive.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Willingness to work in shifts and travel to various project sites.
