Packing Staff

A packing job (or warehouse packer) involves preparing finished goods for safe transport or storage. Packers pull products from inventory, inspect them for quality, securely wrap and box them, and apply shipping labels. It is a physical, fast-paced role that requires high attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities

• Order Preparation: Review order slips or digital scanners to gather the correct items from inventory.

• Packaging: Select the appropriate boxes, crates, and protective materials (e.g., bubble wrap, padding) to prevent breakage during transit.

• Quality Control: Inspect products for damages, defects, or missing parts before packing them.

• Labeling: Accurately weigh packages and apply shipping labels, tracking numbers, and addresses.

• Equipment Operation: Use warehouse tools and equipment such as tape guns, shrink-wrap machines, dollies, and pallet jacks.

• Maintenance: Keep the packing station, warehouse floor, and inventory areas clean, safe, and organized.

Key Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED is usually required.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, bend, twist, and frequently lift heavy objects (typically up to 50 lbs.).

• Attention to Detail: Accuracy in reading order codes and ensuring the right product goes to the right customer.

• Time Management: Capability to meet daily packaging targets and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Tech Skills: Basic familiarity with computers, barcode scanners, and inventory software.
