An Operation Theatre (OT) technician is a vital healthcare professional who prepares the operating room, manages surgical equipment, and assists doctors and nurses during surgeries. They ensure the surgical area is safe, clean, and fully stocked before, during, and after procedures.

Before Surgery (Pre-Operative Duties)

• Room Preparation: Clean and disinfect the operating room, check lights, and set up the operating table.

• Equipment Check: Test anesthesia machines, monitors, and oxygen supplies to make sure they work well.

• Instrument Setup: Arrange sterile surgical tools, trays, and drapes needed for the specific operation.

• Patient Care: Help move and position the patient safely on the operating table.

During Surgery (Intra-Operative Duties)

• Team Support: Hand sterile instruments and supplies quickly to surgeons and nurses.

• Machine Operation: Monitor and manage medical devices like suction units, C-arm X-ray machines, and monitors.

• Safety Checks: Count instruments, needles, and gauze to ensure nothing is left inside the patient.

After Surgery (Post-Operative Duties)

• Cleanup and Sterilization: Clean, pack, and sterilize all used surgical tools using autoclaves.

• Patient Transfer: Help safely move the patient from the OT to the recovery room.

• Restocking: Dispose of medical waste properly and restock the room for the next surgery.
