Job Summary:
responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, maintaining accurate documentation, and following all safety and hygiene protocols. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide a comfortable experience for patients during sample collection.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, finger-prick, and other approved
collection methods
Verify patient identity and ensure correct labeling of all collected specimens
Maintain accurate records of sample collection, patient details, and test requisition forms
Handle, store, and transport specimens to the laboratory as per standard operating procedures
Ensure proper preparation and safe usage of needles, tubes, and collection materials
Adhere strictly to infection control, hygiene standards, and biomedical waste disposal protocols
Explain the sample collection procedure to patients and provide reassurance during the process
Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during or after blood collection
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the sample collection area at all times
Coordinate with laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of collected samples
Qualifications & Requirements:
Diploma / Degree in DMLT, MLT, or a related field is mandatory
1 years of relevant experience as a Phlebotomist
Strong knowledge of blood collection procedures, specimen handling, and patient safety
standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and patient care
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, or healthcare centers
Understanding of quality control and laboratory compliance standards
Ability to handle patients of different age groups with confidence and care
