Pharmacist – Job Description

Overview
A pharmacist dispenses prescription medications, ensures their safe and effective use, and provides expert advice to patients and healthcare providers on drugs, dosages, and interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and accurately dispense prescriptions from physicians and other healthcare providers

• Check for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications before dispensing

• Counsel patients on proper medication use, dosage, side effects, and storage

• Monitor patient drug therapies and recommend adjustments when needed

• Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals on treatment plans

• Maintain accurate patient records and prescription documentation

• Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards

• Manage pharmacy inventory — ordering, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates of medications

• Administer vaccinations and health screenings (in many retail/community settings)

• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff

• Provide information on over-the-counter medications and general health advice

• Handle insurance processing and billing for medications where applicable

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent (e.g., B.Pharm /M.Pharm depending on country)

• Valid pharmacist license/registration ,Haryana
