Sample Collection & Processing
Collect blood and other specimens using standard aseptic techniques.
Ensure proper patient identification before specimen collection.
Label, handle, transport, and store specimens appropriately.
Reject unsuitable specimens as per laboratory protocols and document the reasons.
Laboratory Testing
Perform routine laboratory investigations in Hematology, Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Serology, Microbiology, and Immunology as authorized.
Operate laboratory analyzers and equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Verify test results before reporting and immediately escalate abnormal or critical values to the concerned doctor as per hospital policy.
Ensure timely reporting of laboratory results.
Quality Assurance
Perform daily Internal Quality Control (IQC) and participate in External Quality Assurance (EQAS) programs.
Maintain accurate records of quality control activities.
Follow NABH standards and departmental SOPs.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Report equipment malfunctions immediately.
Maintain maintenance logs and service records.
Documentation
Maintain laboratory registers, reports, reagent logs, temperature records, and inventory records.
Ensure confidentiality of patient information and laboratory data.
Complete all documentation accurately and promptly.
Infection Control & Safety
Follow infection prevention and biomedical waste management guidelines.
Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ensure safe handling and disposal of biological samples and hazardous materials.
Report any laboratory incidents, spills, or needle-stick injuries immediately.
