JOB TITLE: ELECTROPLATING LAB CHEMIST

Location: Ecotech-1, Greater Noida

Department: Electroplating / Chemical Process Control

Duty Hours: 12 Hours per Shift

Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on and technically sound Electroplating Lab Chemist to manage chemical analysis, bath control, sample collection, and process monitoring for our electroplating operations. The role will maintain plating bath chemistry within defined parameters, support production in resolving plating issues, and drive consistent finish quality.

Key Responsibilities:-

Collect samples from electroplating and pre-treatment baths at defined intervals, following proper sampling procedures.

Conduct regular chemical analysis of bath samples and maintain parameters within defined operating ranges.

Maintain bath analysis, chemical addition, test result, and process control records accurately.

Calculate and recommend chemical additions/replenishment based on laboratory analysis and production consumption.

Monitor bath condition and identify trends affecting colour, brightness, adhesion, corrosion resistance, thickness, or appearance.

Prepare and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for plating baths and related process/laboratory activities.

Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure scheduled bath/process maintenance is completed and recorded.

Support troubleshooting of plating defects including colour variation, dullness, burning, poor adhesion, staining, pitting, roughness, and poor coverage.

Monitor electroplating processes for Zamak/Zinc components and ensure defined chemical and process parameters are maintained.

Monitor contamination and unwanted metal/impurity build-up and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Work with chemical suppliers on bath analysis, chemical consumption, troubleshooting, and technical trials.

Monitor chemical consumption and maintain records of plating chemicals, additives, acids, salts, dyes, lacquers, and other process chemicals.

Follow proper chemical handling, laboratory safety, PPE, and safe chemical storage practices.

Skills & Requirements:

Practical knowledge of electroplating chemistry and bath control, preferably with Zinc components.

Experience with chemical analysis and titration methods used for electroplating baths.

Knowledge of pH, concentration, acidity/alkalinity, metal content, contamination, and other bath-control parameters.

Understanding of current density, voltage, temperature, plating time, bath loading, agitation, filtration, and replenishment.

Ability to troubleshoot plating defects and identify chemical/process-related causes.

Ability to analyse process data, identify trends/deviations, and recommend corrective actions.

Ability to coordinate effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and chemical suppliers.

Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and a practical shop-floor approach.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

2–5 years of experience in electroplating, surface finishing, chemical laboratory, or a similar manufacturing environment.

Experience with laboratory equipment, testing instruments, records, and calibration/verification practices.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Language: Hindi & English.
